My parents both come from rural Jalisco, (at separate times), to the US in order to escape an economically depressed city. They worked as farmworkers across California to save money and send back home to their families. While working for farmers in Watsonville, CA, my parents met, fell in love, and started a family. They stayed here so that my bother and I could have a better life and more opportunities than they ever did.

Why did your family come to the United States? To escape poverty.

What would the U.S. be missing out on if you or your people were banned? A father who teaches the value of hard work and a mother that reminds us all not take ourselves too seriously -- life is meant to be enjoyed. Also, a family that cooks way too much food, so they'll have an excuse to invite family, friends, and neighbors over :)
