My parents migrated from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia for economic opportunity, so I was born in Riyadh. At the age of 9, we immigrated to the United States. We took a 28-hour flight from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Vancouver, Canada, and drove down to Southern California, where I finally got to meet a huge family I had only seen in pictures.

Why did your family come to the United States? My parents brought us here to re-unite us with our family that lived here, and to allow me and my siblings to seek higher education and the opportunities afforded with them.

What would the U.S. be missing out on if you or your people were banned? My immediate family: a troupe of comedians who manage to find humor in any situation. My extended family: a village of eclectic and compassionate people that go out of their way to help others. Myself: amateur creative, environmentalist, shoe collector, and cookie appreciator.
