My mother’s paternal and maternal grandparents were both born in Germany. They immigrated to the United States shortly after WWI and settled in North Texas. Originally from Texas, I was raised with a great appreciation for immigrants, particularly our southern neighbors. Their contributions to our communities and our society can't be understated--they are integral to the fabric of our diversity as a nation and should be respected for how they enrich the lives of those around them.

Why did your family come to the United States? My family came to the United States for opportunity after WWI.

What would the U.S. be missing out on if you or your people were banned? Being that I’m half German (which some might argue is my better half), the U.S. would be missing a beer connoisseur.
